Or how to use Tarot Card Spreads to ensure a spot on reading
How to read someone’s Tarot cards — that’s the ultimate question isn’t it? There are many factors involved, but having control of the Tarot spread is muy importante.
In the video above, I go through 3 very simple, Tarot spreads that you can use to answer ANY question that comes your way.
Tarot for Love
Relationships are a hot topic for Tarot readings. This simple spread can be used to answer any relationship question. A relationship can be between 2 people, you and your dog, someone and their job, someone and an idea. This will show the dynamics, expectations and emotions between 2 people and focus on overcoming any obstacles.
We start quite simply with person A and person B and what’s between them. How to read someone’s Tarot cards begins with taking a look at these 3 cards as a whole. How does the picture strike you? Easy, fun, burdensome, confused?
Look at the suits. Are there repeating suits or is each card a different suit? What about court cards? What do you think that says about a person? Major Arcana – a life lesson is at hand.
What’s your theory at this point? Make sure this is clear before moving on. You don’t have to be right, you just have to be clear.
Now we move a little deeper into the relationship. Lay 1 card below each person to represent their expectations for the relationship. Compare these two cards. Are they on the same page or radically different?
Cross the relationship card with another card to represent the issue. Can you connect the issue to the expectation cards or the person cards? Once again, is there a suit dominating ? What type of card is the issue card? Major Arcana (big lessons and opportunities), Court (personality driven), or pip (general mode of operation)?
What would you expect from the meeting of fire with water? fire with air? etc.
The last card in the spread is the bridge card. The bridge suggests a way to create a bridge between the 2 people or areas of interest.
You can always lay more cards in any spot for more clarification, but dig into what you have first. Less is more and trying to keep track of a lot of cards can create confusion, especially for beginning readers.
Tarot Celtic Cross
How to read someone’s Tarot Cards using the Celtic Cross Spread is a traditional way to approach a Tarot card reading.
Over the years, I’ve developed my own version of the classic Celtic Cross spread. My spread has fewer cards but I think the spirit of the spread is still there.
The spread starts with the card on the far left, where you are at and then the other 3 cards of the cross are laid counter clockwise. Then the column on the right is left starting at the bottom with what you need to know. Finally, the likely outcome card is laid in the center.
The cross cards serve as 2 lines of polarity with opposite cards defining an axis. In simpler language, top of mind and deep in heart are related. Where you are at and where you want to go are related. The likely outcome card shows the strongest current in the situation, or the way the wind is blowing, which leads to the likely outcome.
Need to know and who or what are can help you are self explanatory.
The what if card serves as a wild card adding something that may have not been considered. If you are asking the wrong question, the what if card my point that out. The what if card can also signify the highest possibility in the situation. For example, what if not only could this situation be resolved but open the door to something even better.
How to Read Tarot Cards Intuitively
How to read someone’s Tarot cards in an intuitive exercise. This 5 card Tarot spread relies heavily on your intuition. The method to read this spread is to read left to right, line by line, if you will. The card at the very bottom or the apex of the triangle is the final message or final outcome.
Some of you will be very intuitive or psychic style readers, using free form spreads or just laying a few cards and then start talking about what you see. For others, this type of spread may be more difficult. If it’s easier for you to use spreads with defined positions, then use that for now.
I think it’s useful to mention at this point that Tarot cards have their own way of communicating. It’s not like a text from a friend, nor is it like getting an answer from Google. Tarot is a symbolic language and is akin to poetry. It will take some puzzling and looking from different angles to receive the message.
How to Read Someone’s Tarot Cards Example
The Question: Tell me about my upcoming trip.
Line 1: First note there are 2 cup cards and the Empress.
The cups indicate this will be a trip that is about emotions and relationships.
The cups cards blend nicely with the Empress, a card about creativity and growth, as well as interpersonal relationships.
The 4 of cups can indicate boredom, or a withdrawl of emotion.
The Knight speaks of a Quest with cup goals in mind: relationships, connection and emotions. The Knight could even indicate a trip to meet a lover, although in my circumstances this is not the case.
The first line is punctuated by the Empress speaking of creative events.
Line 2: We have the Knight of Rods ( or wands ) and the Magician. Masculine energy is stepping forward in this line. We have, again, another Knight, another quest, more active energy. The Magician asks what magic do I want to create on this trip, for what purpose do I want to bring the masculine and feminine together? What do I want to create?
Line 3: Page of cups. Pages are about communication and flexibility. Pages are also beginners. I interpret the Page of Cups here indicating a opening of the heart. Reflecting back upon the first card, the page is bringing a message to start the flowing of emotion in the stagnant 4 of cups.
