When Tarot Feels Stuck – do this weird thing

4 of cups – Everyday Witch Tarot

Staring hard. Nothing.

Empty cards stay silent.

Woefully unconnected.

I’m sorry to hear you are frustrated with Tarot right now. Even today I get stuck with a reading, or a card.

I remember when first reading Tarot, I really had no idea how the instrument worked. I just looked up the meanings in a book.

Even though the book meanings fell a bit short at times, I persisted.

I approached the cards like a dutiful fisherman, casting my line into the abyss day after day. Sometimes big, fat, beautiful fish. Other days nothing.

And other times

– the glistening enlightenment jumped off the hook –

just as I was pulling it forth from the frothy unconscious waters.

And here’s the kicker, it’s STILL LIKE THAT.

In response to your frustration, consider this.

Your frustration is like a Chinese finger trap – the harder you pull (or think about it), the tighter it gets.

But here’s the secret: Stop pulling.

Instead, push into randomness.

Let the cards speak through synchronicity.

“The universe is not random. It is a symphony of synchronicity.” — Deepak Chopra

Turn frustration into insight. Here’s how.

If you’re being too logical, try being illogical.

Here are a couple of quick and easy ways to jump into the illogical sector of your brain.

Bibliomancy

I asked where I am in my journey and pulled the 4 of pentacles. My finger points to the passage in the book corresponding to the card. My response: that’s pretty dead on!

  1. Lay a card down – this could be the card in question, or just a random pull.
  2. Open a book randomly, point to a sentence — see what connects.
  3. Is it gibberish? Or crazy wisdom?

Intuitive Lottery

Here I asked about a trip to Minnesota in September. The intuitive fragment is around lodgepoles. Does this have something to do with family? I have family there. Or maybe Lake Minnetonka? The response isn’t crystal clear but it is interesting.

  1. Lay a card down – write intuitive fragments on separate slips of paper.
  2. I get the idea.., I’m sensing…, I remember…
  3. Fold up the papers and pick one blindly.
  4. Did you pick the one you “wanted”?
  5. How do you feel about the result?

Why this Works:

  • Terrence McKenna said, “The Universe is not only weirder than we know, it’s weirder than we CAN know.”
  • There are connections you are not seeing because of your habitual way of viewing the world (think Hanged Man) filters them out.
  • As a human, you have a 6th sense, so use it!

Tarot is a conversation, not a magic 8 ball. So let’s get the conversation going!
