Sabian Symbols – My Chiron

My Chiron and the comedian. The Sabian Symbols are channeled material that describe each of the 360 degrees of the zodiac.  They were channeled in 1925 by Elsie Wheeler with the direction of Marc Edmond Jones.  The Sabian Symbols were popularized by Linda Hill in her book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees of Wisdom.

You can find a list of the Sabian Symbols here.

Looking at my birth chart, I have Chiron at 2 degrees Aries.

The Sabian Symbol reads: A comedian entertaining a group of friends.

Note: the Sabian symbols are a bit funky in relation to the degrees in a natal chart.  This is because there is no 0 degrees of any sign, no 0 degrees Aries.  The Sabian symbols start with 1 degree Aries.  Therefore, any point at 0 degrees Aries (and any minutes) corresponds to the first degree of Aries and the Sabian Symbol for 1 Aries.  This is the same principle as the year 1981 belonging to the 20th Century.

Chiron is Where We are Sensitive or Feel Wounded

When I was a kid in elementary school, I didn’t talk.

Unless I really had to.

I can remember kids gathering around me and asking me questions and I would shake my head yes or no.  They found this quite entertaining.  I was very uncomfortable, obviously.

To this day, I still feel uncomfortable when a group gathers around me at a party or other gathering and all eyes are on me.  I wonder why these people want to listen to what I have to say.  I wonder what could I have to say that could possibly be such a draw.

Cassandra Santori at TEDx San AntonioNow public speaking is a different thing altogether.

When speaking publicly there is a buffer between me and the audience.  Audience members can’t be in my space or in my face.

The idea behind giving a speech is that I will talk and you will listen.  Perhaps you will ask questions, and I will answer.  I’m presenting something, not speaking off the cuff.

But if I start talking, and people start looking intently and moving closer, and other people come over, all I want to do is get the hell outta there!

I should tell you that Chiron is in Aries, in my 3rd house of communication.  So while Aries in the 3rd house can be quite direct, with Chiron there, I feel like nobody wants to hear what I have to say.

Chiron the Healer

When my son was born, comedy suddenly became very important to me.

Before that point, I never paid all that much attention to stand up comedians and comedy shows like Saturday Night Live.

After my son was born, comedy became vital to existence.

My son was one of those non-sleep babies.  He didn’t sleep until he was 2, and neither did I.

To keep my sanity, and I mean this quite literally, I watched a hell of a lot of the Comedy Channel.  It kept me going.

Now I’m actually quite fascinated with stand up comedy.  I’d take a class about it if I could find one.  I do a character called “The Voice of the Neighborhood”.

I watch a variety of stand up comics and keenly observe what they do, and laugh a lot along the way.  Some of my favorites:  Eddie Izzard, Jeff Garlin, Larry David, and  Louis C.K..

Initially what didn’t seem to make much sense at all –

A comedian entertaining a group of friends –

I am now seeing as an important part of who I am.  Perhaps during my Chiron return (in my 50’s) I’ll become a stand up comic.  Who knows.
